Iran was the biggest importer of corn from Russia during September-February 2018-19.
According to preliminary information from trade sources, Russia exported 1.4 million tons of corn over the period, 48.5% less than the corresponding period of the previous year, UkrAgroConsult reported.
Exports to Iran stood at 841,500 tons, up 55.5% year-on-year.
The European Union stood at second place, as shipments to this destination rose by 160.9% this season.
Russia also boosted corn supplies to Belarus (66,800 tons, up 160.9% from September-February 2017-18) and Azerbaijan (44,100 tons, up 72.8%).
Turkey, last season’s top importer, slashed purchases in September-February 2018-19 by 87.6%.
