Tehran Hosts, Sends Largest Number of Migrants

Tehran led as a province where migrants arrived and left between October 2011 and 2016, the Statistical Center of Iran announced.
About 517,000 people migrated to Tehran and 315,000 departed from the province over the same period.
With around 51,000 migrants, Alborz Province was the largest source of migrants to Tehran and Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad sent the smallest number of migrants to Tehran with around 2,000.
Alborz also hosted the largest number of migrants from Tehran with around 89,000 people and Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad hosted about 1,000 migrants from Tehran over the five-year period.
Alborz with 208,000, Isfahan with 128,000, Khorasan Razavi with 112,000 and Gilan with 75,000 were the top migrant-hosting Iranian provinces.
After Tehran, Khuzestan with 135,000, Khorasan Razavi with 108,000 and Alborz and Isfahan with 103,000 each were the top Iranian provinces from where migrants left during the period, SCI said.
