Iran's Biggest Layer Chicken Farm Opens

Iran’s biggest layer chicken farm has been inaugurated in Soltaniyeh, Abhar County, Zanjan Province.
Morqak Chicken Farm has the capacity to produce 10 million chickens annually and was set up by Iranian experts in two years and with an investment of 250 billion rials ($2 million), Fars News Agency reported.
The farm will create 40 direct jobs as well as 2,000 indirect jobs.
It will have a 25% share in Iran’s layer chicken and egg production.
Iran produces over 2.1 million chickens in 20,000 farms annually. 
In the past few years, close to 100,000 tons of chicken have been exported from Iran annually.
Iran’s per capita consumption of chicken is twice the global average, as Iranians consume 28 kilograms while the global average is 14-15 kilograms. 
In the last Iranian year (March 2017-18), 1.26 billion broiler chickens and 38 million layer chickens were produced in Iran.
