The Iranian private sector is invited to participate and invest in Sierra Leone’s health projects, the West African country's ambassador to Iran said.
Alie Badara Kamara made the statement in a meeting with Chairman of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture Masoud Khansari in the Iranian capital on Saturday.
“The new government that has taken office in Sierra Leone aims to develop the health and education sectors. Sierra Leone has opened its doors to foreign investors, and Iranian businesspeople active in this sector can help equip our hospitals and health centers,” Kamara was quoted as saying by the news portal of TCCIM as saying.
The official added that the two sides can improve their trade ties and, in this respect, Sierra Leone can expand the export of cocoa, oilseeds and minerals to Iran.
According to Khansari, Iran-Sierra Leone trade currently stands under $1 million per year.
“TCCIM is ready and willing to send and host commercial delegations to and from Sierra Leone to identify cooperation capacities between our respective countries in different fields. We are competent in the health sector and our private sector can play a major role in equipping medical centers in this West African country. This can be the first step in improving bilateral ties between the two sides,” he said.
