Maku Free Trade Zone in northwestern Iran will soon become the country’s major port of entry for importing livestock and meat, as per the preliminary agreement reached by the officials of FTZ and Trabzon, the largest city in the eastern Karadeniz region of Turkey. Maku FTZ Managing Director Gholamreza Soleimani has called for direct flights to be established between Maku and Trabzon as soon as possible, IRNA reported on Thursday. The signing of the agreement coincided with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's visit to Turkey to meet his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The two presidents set the target of achieving $30 billion in annual bilateral trade from the current $11 billion.
