For the first time, a steel ingot shipment weighing 1,200 tons has been transported from the Yazd Province to the city of Kashan in Isfahan Province via railroad.
The move is aimed at reducing fuel consumption and road maintenance expenses on this route, Public Relations Department of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways said on Saturday.
It is estimated that some 110,000 tons of commodities will be transported via this rail route annually, the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development reported.
