The value of Iran’s saffron exports has risen by 22.5 percent in the first six months of the current Persian year- which started on March 21- compared to the similar period last year, Ali Hosseini, a member of the National Saffron Council stated. The rise brings the total export value of the ‘red gold’ over the period to about $83 million. The total volume of saffron exports has also risen by 22.8 percent. According to Hosseini, the prime destinations of the product are the UAE, Spain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the Netherlands, Australia and Canada.
