After an 8-year hiatus in direct flights from Iran to Kyrgyzstan, such flights will resume between northeastern city of Mashhad and Bishkek as of October 20, reported IRNA. The flights will run once a week on Tuesdays from Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport in Mashhad.
The announcement came after President Hassan Rouhani paid a visit to Kyrgyzstan.
Officials say the direct flights could help boost economic cooperation between the two countries and attract tourists to Iran. Iranian airlines will carry seven flights a week in the future.
