A member of the Parliament’s Urban Development Commission, Mehrdad Lahouti, has announced the acquisition of new passenger aircraft by Iran Aseman Airlines. “The planes have been delivered and will soon be added to the airline’s fleet,” ILNA quoted the lawmaker as saying. He said Iran Aseman will elaborate on the type, age and number of the purchased aircraft in the future. According to Lahouti, the age of Iran’s air fleet will soon be considerably reduced as the barriers to purchase of new aircraft will be removed after lifting of sanctions (imposed over Iran’s nuclear energy program). Meanwhile, secretary of Association of Iranian Airlines Maqsoud As’adi, told Tasnim news agency on Tuesday that following the deal, airlines have started contacting global airplane companies over procurement of parts and purchase of new planes. Negotiations, however, according to As’adi are in initial assessment phase. “It will require 5-6 months for the transactions to take place,” he said.
