More than 1,000 tons of walnuts valued at $7 million were exported during the first two months of the current Iranian year (started March 20), based on data provided by Iran Customs Administration. Walnut exports rose by 1,650% in terms of value and 3,000% in terms of weight compared to the similar period last year, ISNA reported. Meanwhile, the wholesale prices of walnut without shell reduced from $12 per kilogram last year to $7 this year.  The ICA had earlier reported the export of 300 tons of walnut, valued at $2.5 million during the first month of the current Iranian year. This indicates that walnut exports more than doubled in the year’s second month.
