The oil minister said the country would save up to 2.2 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually by supporting the production of high efficiency gas heaters. Bijan Namdar Zangeneh said gas heater manufactures would receive between 100 and 150 dollars of subsidy for every high efficiency heater they produce. The minister added that implementation of the plan would annually decrease emissions of 4.3 million tons of CO2. The minister added that if all the 20 million inefficient gas heaters across the country are changed with government subsidies, the money will return in only six months because the consumption will be half.
