The Iranian National Tax Administration has identified 551 social media influencers and taxed them an aggregate of 170 billion rials ($340,000), says INTA’s Spokesman Mehdi Movahedi.
According to the spokesman, 123 influencers were taxed a total of 23 trillion rials ($46 million) in the last Iranian year that ended on March 20, 2023, of whom 23 have admitted to paying tax, ILNA reported.
“As per INTA’s budget law, INTA has been commissioned to identify and collect tax from influencers with more than 500,000 followers for their advertising revenues in user-centered social media,” Movahedi explained.
Economy Minister Ehasan Khandouzi had earlier communicated the directive on taxing influencers to the Iranian National Tax Administration.
