Iran and the European Union’s 27 member states traded €1.49 billion worth of goods during the first four months of 2023, registering a 10.84% fall compared with the same period of the year before.
Data released by Eurostat show Germany was the top trading partner of Iran in the EU region during the period, as the two countries exchanged €464.78 million worth of goods, 27.49% less year-on-year. 
Italy came next with €219.97 million worth of trade with Iran to register an 8.32% rise. The Netherlands with €193.36 million (up 44.21%) and Belgium with €115.95 million (up 32.34%) were Iran's other major European trade partners.
The Netherlands registered the highest growth of 44.21% in trade with Iran during the period under review and was followed by Belgium with 32.34%.
