A total of 4.63 million tons of iron ore concentrate were produced by major Iranian mining companies during the first month of the current fiscal year (March 21-April 20), registering a 5% increase compared with 4.4 million tons in the corresponding period of last year, new data released by the Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization show.
The IMIDRO report takes into account the output of major producers, therefore the overall production should be higher than the figures quoted here.
Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company produced 1.56 million tons of iron ore concentrate to top the list of producers. It was followed by Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company with 910,778 tons, Golgohar Steel Company with 497,554 tons, Sangan Steel Company with 407,103 tons, Middle East Mines and Mining Industries Development Holding Company with 358,081 tons, Iran Central Iron Ore Company with 323,622 tons, Opal Parsian Sangan Mineral and Industrial Company with 242,801 tons, SIMIDCO with 222,512 tons, Sabanour Mining and Industrial Development Company with 87,546 tons and Jalalabad Iron Ore Complex with 15,205 tons.
The pellet output of major steel mills reached 170.15 million tons during the period, posting a growth of 26% compared with 135,466 tons in the same period of the previous year.
