A total of $215 million worth of goods were exported from Iran to Central Asian and Caucasian countries, as well as Russia, during the first month of the current Iranian year (March 21-April 20), registering a 50% rise compared with the same month of last year, according to Rahmatollah Khormali, an official with Trade Promotion Organization of Iran.
Russia topped the list of export destinations with $60 million. It was followed by Azerbaijan with $33 million, Armenia with $32 million, Turkmenistan with $27 million and Uzbekistan with $20 million.
Exports to these countries stood at $3.2 billion in the fiscal 2022-23 (ended March 20), registering an 18% rise compared with the year before, IRNA reported.
Russia also topped the list of export destinations during the year with $745 million, registering a 30% increase compared with the year before. Azerbaijan with $650 million, Armenia with $465 million, Turkmenistan with $460 million and Uzbekistan with $290 million came next.
Khormali noted that Iranian exports to Asian and Caucasian countries, as well as Russia, registered a 40% increase in the fiscal 2021-22.
