KRG Trade Team to Visit

A delegation from Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government is due to visit Iran at the end of May to meet with government officials to strengthen bilateral trade relations.
The KRG delegation will comprise governors of Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Duhok, and Halabja along with representatives from the border crossings of Haj Omran, Parvizkhan and Bashmakh, Basnews reported. 
Representatives of the region's chambers of commerce will also accompany the delegation, according to Kurdistan 24, citing remarks from the head of KRG public relations office. The visit is set to take place in the city of Urmia.
Trade volume between Iraq and Iran stand at $12 billion, and between Erbil and Tehran at $4 billion.
The Kurdistan Region shares a long border with Iran, which includes three major border checkpoints between the two neighbors. 
Iran is a major trading partner of Erbil and Baghdad.
