The Statistical Center of Iran has published a new report on the number of construction permits issued in Tehran and throughout the country during the third quarter of the previous financial year that ended on Dec. 21, 2022.
Municipalities across the country issued 30,626 building permits in Q3, registering a 0.9% increase compared to the first quarter and a 16% increase year-on-year.
A total of 101,878 housing units are expected to be built as a result of permits issued across Iran’s urban areas, indicating a 23.2% QOQ increase and a 3.3% YOY rise. 
The average number of residential units per permit across the country was 3.3. 
The total floor area of units in buildings was 18.22 million square meters, posting a 0.1% drop QOQ and a 15% growth YOY. The average floor area of units per permit was 595 square meters.
The report added that 1,561 permits were issued by Tehran Municipality during the same period, indicating a 1.7% decline compared with the previous quarter and a 30.3% growth compared with the same quarter of the year before.
A total of 11,261 homes are expected to be built as a result of the permits that indicate a 12.2% decrease quarter-on-quarter and a 19% growth year-on-year. The average number of residential units per permit in the capital city was 7.2. 
In Tehran, the total floor area of units in buildings with permits issued in Q3 stood at 1,919,000 square meters, registering a 12.3% decline QOQ and a 5.9% growth YOY. 
The average floor area of units per permit in the capital city was 1,269 square meters.
