    Trade With Latin America Declines

    Iran traded 609,834 tons of goods (excluding oil exports) worth $628.51 million with Latin American countries during the first 11 months of last Iranian year (March 21, 2022-Feb. 19), registering a 60.65% and 43.88% year-on-year decline in terms of weight and value respectively, latest data released by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration show.

    Iran exported goods to only 14 Latin American countries and imported from 11 of 33 Latin American countries during the period.

    Trade with Brazil stood at 459,959 tons (down 61.34%) worth over $408.95 million (down 33.99%), for the Latin American country to top the list of Iran’s partners in the region. It was followed by Venezuela with 49,158 tons (down 84.92%) worth $115.23 million (down 81.36%) and Argentina with 49,085 tons (down 84.95%) worth $84.88 million (up 210.36).

    Iran’s exports totaled 241,264 tons worth $190.85 million during the period under review to register a 26.17% decline in terms of weight, but a 36.5% growth in terms of value YOY.

    Venezuela topped the list of export destinations among Latin American states with 49,151 tons (up 50.44%) worth $114.45 million (up 472.27%). It was followed by Brazil with 138,976 tons (down 52.4%) worth $71.72 million (down 37.61%) and Argentina with 4,967 tons worth $2.05 million.

    Imports, which stood at 368,570 tons worth $437.65 million during the period under review, mainly came from Brazil and amounted to 320,983 tons (down 64.22%) worth $337.23 million (down 33.16%). Argentina followed with 44,117 tons (down 86.42%) worth $82.82 million (down 81.76%) and Cuba with 188 kilograms worth $11.85 million.

    Iran traded 1.73 million tons of non-oil goods worth $1.25 billion with Latin American countries in the fiscal 2021-2.

    Trade with Brazil stood at 1.36 million tons worth $737.77 million.
