Rail Passengers Rise by 30% in Norouz Holidays

Rail passengers in Norouz (Iranian New Year) holidays (13 days starting from March 21) registered the highest growth among all modes of transportation compared with the previous year, according to Iran’s Roads and Urban Development Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash.
A total of 1.6 million passengers used rail transportation during the period, registering a 30% increase.
Air passenger transportation registered a 20% rise, as 2 million people chose air transportation during the period, IRNA reported.
The minister noted that road passenger transportation registered a 3.5% rise during the period.
“A total of 6.2 million passengers used sea transportation in Norouz,” he said, adding that 600,000 vehicles were shipped via sea, registering a 12% rise compared with the year before.
