Saha Airlines has launched new flights between the Iranian city of Shiraz and the Iraqi holy city of Najaf.
According to Fakhreddin Keshavarz, director general of Fars Province’s Airports, the first roundtrip was operated on this route on March 3.
The flights are scheduled for Fridays with departure time at 4:10 p.m. and arrival time at 9:10 p.m., the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development reported.
Saha Airlines uses Boeing 737 aircraft for this flight.
Currently, Pars Air is also operating roundtrip flights on this route.
Earlier, the director general of East Azarbaijan Airports Organization announced new flights between the city of Tabriz, located in the northeast of Iran, and Najaf in Iraq by Caspian Airlines.
The flights arrive at Tabriz International Airport at 12:00 a.m. on Wednesdays and depart for Al-Najaf International Airport after an hour.
“Tabriz-Najaf flights are already operated by Iran Air Tour on Thursdays every week,” Ramin Azari was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
Najaf is a city in central Iraq about 160 km south of Baghdad. It is one of the holiest cities of Shia Islam and one of its spiritual capitals.
Tabriz is the capital city of East Azarbaijan Province.
