A total of 704,000 tons of finished steel were imported to Iran during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022-Jan. 20), registering a 19% year-on-year rise, according to the Iranian Steel Producers Association.
The imports mostly included hot rolled coil with 233,000 tons, up 106%; cold rolled coil with 178,000 tons, down 21%; coated coil with 165,000, down 7%; beam with 13,000 tons, down 7%; L-beam, T-beam and other types with an aggregate of 29,000 tons, down 6%, and rebar with 43,000 tons, up 79%.
Meanwhile, 5,000 tons of semi-finished steel products were imported during the same period, unchanged YOY. The imports only included billet and bloom with an aggregate of 5,000 tons, up 150%.
Iran did not have any DRI imports during the period, the ISPA report said.
