ISPA Reports Rise in Steel Imports

A total of 667,000 tons of finished steel were imported to Iran during the first three quarters of the current Iranian year (March 21-Dec. 21, 2022) to register a 14% year-on-year rise, according to the Iranian Steel Producers Association.
The imports mostly included HRC with 224,000 tons, up 129%; CRC with 152,000 tons, down 29% compared with the year before; coated coil with 141,000, down 16%; beam with 12,000 tons, down 8% YOY; L-beam, T-beam and other types with 29,000 tons, up 4% YOY and rebar with 72,000 tons, up 213%.
Meanwhile, 5,000 tons of semi-finished steel products were imported during the same period, up 25%. The imports only included billet and bloom with 5,000 tons, up 150% year-on-year.
