A total of 485,000 tons of finished steel were imported during the first seven months of the current fiscal year (March 21-Oct. 22), registering a 1% year-on-year rise, latest data released by the Iranian Steel Producers Association show.
The imports mostly included HRC with 198,000 tons, up 136%; CRC with 101,000 tons, down 50% compared with the year before; coated coil with 109,000, down 20%; beam with 8,000 tons, down 11% YOY; L-beam, T-beam and other types with 20,000 tons, down 23% YOY and rebar with 23,000 tons, up 21% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, 3,000 tons of semi-finished steel products were imported during the same period, unchanged YOY. These included 2,000 tons of billet and bloom, unchanged year-on-year.
