H1 Exports from Aras FTZ Hit $235 Million

A total of $235 million worth of goods were exported from Aras Free Trade Zone during the first half of the current Iranian year (March 21-Sept. 22), according to its CEO.
The main exported products during the six months under review included steel and aluminum ingots, bitumen, light and heavy hydrocarbons, greenhouse products, nuts, plastic and propylene rolls and bags, black tea and medium-density fiberboards, Majid Kiani was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
Turkey, Russia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Georgia, Armenia, Morocco, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan were the main destinations. 
With more than 70,000 hectares along the Aras River, Aras Free Trade Zone is in East Azarbaijan Province in northwest Iran bordering Armenia, Azerbaijan and the semi-autonomous Nakhichevan region. 
Aras is the main gateway to mainland Iran from the northern Commonwealth of Independent States.
Some 150 production and industrial units are active in the zone that also holds the country’s largest greenhouse facility.
