Underemployment, the condition in which people in a labor force are employed for less than 44 hours of service per week, stood at 9.2% in the second quarter of the current Iranian year (June 22-Sept. 22), down 0.3% year-on-year, according to the Statistical Center of Iran
The rate was higher for men and those living in rural areas.
Q2 underemployment for men and women stood at 10% and 4.6%, respectively. It stood at 8% for urban areas and 12.8% for rural areas.
Q2 statistics show that 39.6% of Iran’s labor force worked more than 49 hours per week, indicating a 1% increase over the same period of last year.
