A total of 4.1 million tons of clinker were exported from Iran during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21-Aug. 22), registering a 29% rise compared with the similar period of last year, the secretary of Cement Industry Employers Guild Union said.
“Our biggest export destination during the period was Kuwait. Other main customers of Iranian clinker were Iraq, Afghanistan, Oman, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and Qatar,” Abdolreza Sheykhan was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
According to the official, a total of 31.5 million tons of clinker were produced in Iran during the five months, registering a 7% year-on-year increase.
“Cement exports reached 1.7 million tons during the same period, indicating a 2.3% decline compared with the corresponding period of last year. Production reached 26.09 million tons, showing no significant year-on-year change,” he said.
