A total of 177,408 tons of poultry meat were produced in Iran’s official slaughterhouses in the fifth month of the current fiscal year (July 23-Aug. 22), marking a 5% rise in output compared with the previous month.
According to the Statistical Center of Iran, the production volume registered an 8% increase compared with last year’s corresponding period.
Chicken production stood at 173,719 tons, accounting for 97.9% of the total output.
Other types of poultry produced during the period included turkey, quail, ostrich and partridge.
Poultry production stood at 2.15 million tons in the fiscal 2021-22 (ended March 20).
Chicken production stood at 2.1 million tons during the year, accounting for 97.6% of the total output.
Golestan Province had the highest volume of chicken meat (rooster and hen) production with 228,000 tons last year.
Isfahan Province with 8,423 tons of turkey meat, Yazd Province with 1,087 tons of quail meat, West Azerbaijan Province with 644 tons of ostrich meat and Alborz Province with 7,101 tons of different kinds of other poultry meats (egg-laying and broiler chicken and partridge) were the top producers of other kinds of poultry in the year.
