A total of 55,605 tons of red meat were produced in Iran's official slaughterhouses during the month ending Aug. 22 to register a 7% increase in output compared to the previous month and a 5% rise year-on-year.
The Statistical Center of Iran's latest report shows beef accounted for 27,295 tons, or 49.1% of the overall meat production, indicating a year-on-year decline of 3%, SCI reported on its website.
A total of 23,984 tons of lamb (up 19% YOY), 3,403 tons of goat meat (down 1% YOY) and 923 tons of meat from other types of livestock were produced during the one-month period, accounting for 43.1%, 6.1% and 1.7% of the total output respectively.
