A total of 1.36 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded at Busher Port in the southern Bushehr Province during the first five months of the current Iranian year (March 21-July 22), registering a 66% rise compared with the similar period of last year, according to a local official.
"Non-oil and oil goods accounted for 839,054 tons and 523,160 tons of the total throughput respectively," Mohammad Shakibi Nasabrouz was quoted by IRNA as saying.
Container unloading and loading stood at 14,149 TEUs and 7,072 TEUs respectively.
During the four months under review, a total of 818 vessels berthed at Bushehr Port, he added.
The port of Bushehr has the capacity to handle more than 7 million tons of goods per year and can host vessels of over 30,000 tons.
Bushehr is a southern Iranian Province that has a 937-kilometer coastline alongside the Persian Gulf.
