About 4.3 million tons of apples are produced in Iran annually, of which close to 1 million tons are exported, according to Deputy Agriculture Minister Mohammad Mehdi Boroumandi.
The official noted that 95% of the apples produced in the country are harvested in autumn, IRIB News reported.
With more than 1.3 million tons accounting for 45% of Iran’s total apple production, West Azarbaijan Province in northwest Iran is its biggest producer.
