Exports from Golestan Province hit 95,591 tons worth $55.62 million in the first quarter of the current fiscal year (March 21-June 21), registering a 27% decline in terms of weight, but a 58% increase in value compared with last year’s corresponding period, according to Ebrahim Hosseini, a local official.
Polystyrene, cheese, pipes and profiles, iodine, dates, particle board, copper wire, suspended ceilings, aquatic feed and tomato paste were the main exported products.
Turkmenistan, Iraq, Romania, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Poland, Armenia, the UAE, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Kyrgyzstan were among the 26 export destinations, IRNA reported.
Imports stood at 3,006 tons worth $6.47 million during the same period, registering a 10% growth in weight, but a 38% decline in value year-on-year.
Different types of fabrics, textile and diesel generators were the main products imported from 12 countries, namely Turkmenistan, China, the UAE, India, the UK, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, Tajikistan, Italy, Uzbekistan and Germany.
The local official added that a total of 4,380 tons of foreign goods worth 950 billion rials ($2.99 million) were transited from Golestan during the same period, registering a 48% and 100% YOY growth in weight and value respectively.
The province earned 136 billion rials ($426,332) in customs revenue in Q1, registering an 11% YOY growth.
