The first container train moving on the China-Kazakhstan-Iran-Turkey route will enter Iran within a month, chairman of Kazakhstan National Railways who accompanied a high-ranking delegation to Iran said.
Nurlan Sauranbayev was speaking in a meeting with Miad Salehi, the CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, on Monday.
The two sides signed a memorandum of understanding, based on which some of the freight carried along the China-Russia-Europe rail corridor will now be transported through the China-Kazakhstan-Iran-Turkey rail route.
They signed another MoU for expanding Tehran-Tashkent rail transportation ties, setting preferential transportation tariffs and increasing transit through the two countries.
