    Iranian Business Delegation Visits Muscat

A high-ranking commercial and marketing delegation headed by Alireza Peymanpak, the head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran, recently visited Muscat, the Omani capital.

“The visit to Muscat was planned by TPO in collaboration with Iran-Oman Chamber of Commerce and the delegation is made up of Iranian businesspeople and traders active in a host of economic fields, as well as officials from the Export Guarantee Fund of Iran and the Ports and Maritime Organization,” Farzad Piltan, TPO’s director general for West Asian affairs, was quoted as saying by IRNA.

The mission, he added, will attend a joint business forum and enter negotiations for expanding bilateral trade.

Iranian businessmen will survey ways of increasing cooperation with their Omani counterparts and identify obstacles impeding economic interactions.

The delegation held meetings with Omani private and public sector officials and paid a visit to Oman’s Tile and Stone Trade Show, also known as TSS Oman, which opened on Sunday and concluded on Tuesday.

Trade between Iran and Oman exceeded $1.33 billion during the last Iranian year (March 2021-22), showing a 53% rise compared with the year before. The figure is a 20-year record high, according to the chairman of Iran-Oman Chamber of Commerce.

“Iran’s exports to its southern neighbor reached $716 million, registering a 64% year-on-year growth,” Mohsen Zarrabi was also quoted as saying by the news portal of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture.

Zarrabi noted that the two countries’ joint chamber was founded in the fiscal 2013-14, when annual bilateral trade amounted to $221 million.
