Mazandaran Wood and Paper Industries Company has resumed production and plans to produce uncoated paper this year (started March 21), says the head of Paper and Cardboard Producers Syndicate, Abolfazl Roghani-Golpayegani.
“Given the increase in the price of various goods, the rise in paper price is inevitable. However, there has not been an unexpected increase in paper prices. Commercial paper prices have increased by 7-10%, that is unlike some years when paper prices increased fourfold,” he was quoted as saying by ISNA.
“Note that the price of paper is also affected by the price of wheat and flour, because paper production is partly dependent on starch, which is obtained from flour and wheat. Therefore, the rise in the price of flour will also affect the price of paper.”
Roghani-Golpayegani had earlier said the country needs 380,000 tons of uncoated paper, but as paper mills only have the capacity to produce 180,000 tons of uncoated paper, the actual production is insignificant and producers cannot compete with importers.
