The volume of Khorasan Razavi’s foreign trade (exports and imports) increased by 17% in the fiscal 2021-22 compared with the year before, according to Mohammad Ali Amir-Fakharian, a local official.
Exports hit 2.6 million tons worth $1.42 billion, registering a 5% decline in tonnage, but a 6% growth in value year-on-year, IRNA reported.
Iron and steel rods, saffron, pistachio, fresh apple, potatoes, flooring, polystyrene, ferrochrome, yeast, pastry and biscuit, bag, paint and varnish, and white Portland cement were among the main exported products.
Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Pakistan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, the UAE, Spain, Russia, Turkey, the Netherlands, India, Oman, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Bulgaria were the chief destinations.
The province imported 229,000 tons of goods worth $579 million during the same period, registering year-on-year growth rates of 25% and 53% in terms of weight and value respectively.
