Exports from Markazi Province hit 1.63 million tons worth $1.23 billion in the fiscal 2021-22 (ended March 20), registering a 6% year-on-year decline in weight, but a 34% growth in value, according to a local customs official, Esmaeil Hosseini.
Different types of fuel, heavy and light polyethylene, aluminum ingots, food and beverages, plastic and disposable products, glass and crystalline products, steel, tissue and ceramic tiles were the main exported goods during the period.
Iraq, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan were the main destinations.
The province exported goods to 101 countries during the period.
A total of 143,401 tons of goods worth $495.42 million were imported to the province during the same period, registering a 7% YOY decline in terms of weight and a 5% YOY growth in terms of value.
The imports mainly included raw materials used in production lines, diaper, fruit juice cartons, machinery, components and parts, edible essence, raw materials used in food industry, steel wire and aluminum coil.
“These goods were imported to the province from 50 countries, including the UAE, Turkey, China, India and South Korea,” Hosseini said.
