A total of 236,000 tons of goods worth $330 million were exported from Bileh Savar Border Crossing, located in the northwestern Ardabil Province, during the fiscal 2021-22 and registered a 10% and 45% rise in weight and value respectively compared with the year before, according to the governor of Bileh Savar County.
“The exports mainly included potato, glass, tile and ceramic, plastic and metal artifacts, as well as industrial products. Potatoes alone accounted for more than $106 million of the exports,” Sahebali Asghari was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
The official noted that around $18 million worth of goods were imported through Bileh Savar during the same period, registering an 80% year-on-year growth.
Bileh Savar County, which borders Azerbaijan Republic, is the only active customs terminal in Ardabil.
