A total of 3.18 million tons of goods were loaded and unloaded in Khuzestan Province’s Khorramshahr Port during the last Iranian year (March 2021-22), according to the director general of the southern city’s Ports and Maritime Organization.
“Construction materials, agricultural and livestock products, and different kinds of metals and minerals were the main goods exported from Khorramshahr. Among our main imported products were 2,392 automobiles, showing a 12% year-on-year rise,” Nourollah As’adi was also quoted as saying by IRNA. 
The official noted that container throughput from the southern port stood at 20,730 TEUs, registering a 6% increase compared with the similar period of last year.
“A total of 869 vessels berthed at Khorramshahr Port during the period under review, 1,944 wagons used railroads and 149,046 trucks commuted to and from the port, registering an increase of 18%, 85% and 13% compared with the previous year respectively,” he added.
Khorramshahr Port is situated in the northwest of the Persian Gulf, southwest of Iran and southeast of Iraq (Shalamcheh land border) at the confluence of Arvand and Karoun rivers in Khuzestan Province. It is an inland port city located approximately 10 kilometers north of Abadan with 20 wharfs stretched across 230 hectares.
