Direct flights between the city of Tabriz, in Iran’s northwest, and Najaf in Iraq have been scheduled to run from March 3 by Meraj Airlines, director general of East Azarbaijan Airports Organization announced.
The flights arrive at Tabriz International Airport at 12:20 p.m. on Thursdays and depart for Al-Najaf International Airport after an hour.
“Tabriz-Najaf flights are already operated by Iran Air Tour on Saturdays and Thursdays every week,” Ramin Azari was also quoted as saying by the news portal of Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
Najaf is a city in central Iraq about 160 km south of Baghdad. It is one of the holiest cities of Shia Islam and one of its spiritual capitals.
Tabriz is the capital city of East Azarbaijan Province.
