Growth in Output of Six Mineral Products

The Ministry of Industries, Mining and Trade's review of the current Iranian year’s first nine months (March 21-Dec. 21) shows the output of six mineral products (out of 12 under review) registered growth compared with the similar period of last year.

A total of 411,200 tons of pure aluminum ingots were produced during the period, up 24.7% compared with the corresponding period of last year.

Sheet glass production rose by 19.1% YOY to 1 million tons.

The production of porcelain dishes increased by 11.1% YOY to 45,700 tons while the production of copper cathode stood at 227,900 million tons, registering a YOY increase of 6.5%.

Tile and ceramic output hit 341.17 million square meters, experiencing a 3.2% YOY increase.

Also, the output of glass dishes exceeded 551,700 tons, showing a YOY increase of 1.7%.

The output of the following products declined during the period: Sanitary ware hit 73,900 tons, down 16.4%, coal concentrate production was at 1.08 million tons, down 11.7% YOY, cement and steel products stood at 48.72 million tons and 18.91 million tons respectively, down 9.1% and 5.4% respectively YOY, crude steel production hit 21.24 million tons, indicating a 2.4% decrease year-on-year, and that of alumina dipped by 0.1% to 175,100 tons.

Monthly Review

A monthly review of the ministry shows the output of eight mineral products (out of 12 under review) registered growth in the ninth month of the current fiscal year (Nov. 22-Dec. 21) compared to the preceding month.

Sheet glass production increased by 16.3% to reach 125,600 tons, coal concentrate production registered an 11.8% MOM increase to 139,800 tons and pure aluminum ingots’ production stood at 51,200 tons during the period, up 7.1% month-on-month.  

Glass dishes’ output grew by 5.7% to 61,600 tons.

Cement output increased by 2.1% MOM to 5.39 million tons and alumina output hit 19,600 tons, registering a month-on-month growth of 2.6%.

The production of copper cathode reached 26,000 tons, up 1.1% month-on-month.

Sanitary ware’s output increased by 0.5% MOM to reach 8,000 tons and that of porcelain dishes reached 5,100 tons, down by 3.2% MOM.

The output of crude steel during the month hit 2.59 million tons, indicating a 5.8% decline compared with the previous month.

Steel products’ output stood at 2.27 million tons, down 2.1%, while tile and ceramic output hit 39.93 million square meters, registering a 0.9% MOM decrease.
