South Khorasan Exports Exceed $620m Since March

Exports from South Khorasan Province stood at 1.9 million tons worth $627.56 million since the start of the current fiscal year (March 21, 2021), registering a 33% decline in weight and a 1% growth in value year-on-year, according to Hassan Rahimizadeh, a local official.
Fruit and vegetable, cement, ceramic and tile, light hydrocarbon, diesel, hydrocarbon from recycled paint, distilled fuel, bitumen and rebar were the main exported products.
Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Turkmenistan were the main destinations, IRNA reported.
“During the period, customs services were provided to 5,435 incoming passengers and 5,436 outgoing passengers from Mahiroud Customs Bureau, registering a 19% and 10% growth in the number of incoming and outgoing passengers respectively,” the official added.
Rahimizadeh noted that a total of 2,779 trucks transited goods weighing 80,617 tons, including industrial oil, sugar, frozen chicken, flour and other goods, from Iraq, India, Indonesia, Turkey and Russia through Mahiroud to Afghanistan during the same period, registering a 47% and 50% YOY decline in the number of trucks and freight volume respectively.
South Khorasan Province is located in northeast Iran and has two border checkpoints, namely Birjand and Mahiroud, and four border markets of Dokohaneh, Mil 78, Mil 73 and Yazdan along 460 kilometers of its border with Afghanistan.
