A total of 1,080 tons of honey worth 860 billion rials ($3 million) were exported from Iran during the current Iranian year’s first eight months (March 21-Nov. 21), according to the director of Agriculture Ministry’s Apiculture Expansion Project.
“The main export destinations for Iranian honey are China, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Germany, the UK, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Iraq and Lebanon,” Hossein Akbarpour was quoted as saying by IRNA.
“Iranian bee farmers produce close to 115,000 tons of honey per year and our annual export capacity is between 5,000 and 10,000 tons. About 60% of the honey produced in the county are from multiple plant sources and 40% are from single plant sources.”
