In a letter to the Agriculture Ministry, the Vegetable Oil Industries Association has warned against “serious crisis” facing the market as a result of a looming shortage.
Per capita vegetable oil consumption in Iran is about 18-19 kilograms a year while the global average is 12 kg.

About 2 million tons of oilseeds and 1.5 million tons of unprocessed oil are supplied through imports annually.
