Non-oil exports from Semnan Province stood at 172,647 tons worth $286.61 million in the current fiscal year’s first eight months (March 21-Nov. 21), registering a 4% and 51% year-on-year growth in weight and value respectively, according to Ali Sadeddin, the head of Semnan Customs Administration.
Light hydrocarbons, engine oil, sodium hydroxide, cables, ground cables, plastic home appliances, lead ingot, detergent, cement, goat hair, sodium carbonate, calcium chloride, tile and ceramic, swamp cooler, barite powder, calcium hypochlorite and anthracite were the main export products, IRNA reported.
Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey, the UAE, Azerbaijan, Russia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Syria and Ukraine were among the 34 export destinations.
A total of 9,442 tons of goods worth 34.02 million were cleared from the province’s customs terminals during the same period, registering a 1% and 14% YOY decline in terms of weight and value respectively.
The cleared goods include components and parts of electrical machinery and transformers, acrylic fiber, cotton, ball bearing, tile molds and components and parts of spinning machines.
Turkey, China, Italy, Uzbekistan, South Korea and the UAE were the main exporters from among 16 peers.
Semnan is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. Spread across 96,816 square kilometers, it stretches along the Alborz mountain range and borders the Dasht-e Kavir desert in its southern parts.
The province is located 216 kilometers east of the capital Tehran. With over 2,020 production units, it is considered an Iranian industrial hub.
More than 260,000 tons of goods worth $332 million were reportedly exported from this province in the last Iranian year (March 2020-21), registering a 34% year-on-year growth in value.
The average value of each ton of exported good stood at $1,248, registering a 40% growth compared with the previous year.
According to Sadeddin, the province earned 379.95 billion rials ($12.6 million) in customs revenues during the period to register a 12% rise compared with the previous year.
