Tabriz-Najaf flights will be launched from Tabriz International Airport as of Dec. 2.
“The flights will be operated by Iran Airtour every Thursday,” a local official, Ramin Azari, said.
“Planes are scheduled to leave Tabriz International Airport once a week on Thursdays at 10:45 a.m. for Al-Najaf International Airport and head back to Tabriz and land at the airport at 3:50 p.m.,” he was also quoted as saying by the news portal of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development.
Tabriz is the capital city of East Azarbaijan Province in northwestern Iran.
Najaf is a city in central Iraq about 160 km south of Baghdad. Alongside Karbala, Najaf is a major pilgrimage destination for Shia Muslims.
