Weekly per capita milk consumption among Iranians ages 15 and above stood at 2.98 glasses in the year ending March 20, 2021, findings of the Statistical Center of Iran’s survey show.
Ardabil Province registered the highest per capita milk consumption with 3.63 glasses per week.
Weekly per capita consumption of carbonated beverages stood at 2 glasses in the year under review, with Kerman Province registering the highest per capita intake of 2.77 glasses.
Iranians ages 15 and above consumed an average of 1.7 servings of fish per week. Hormozgan Province recorded the highest per capita intake of fish with 5.67 servings per week during the period under review.
Fast food consumption per capita was 1.34 servings per week.
Eleven percent of Iranian households reported that they threw away food at least once during the month preceding the survey.
Of people ages 15 and above, 5.8% smoked cigarettes, 89.6% of whom said they were smoking every day.
Four percent of people ages 15 and above smoked water-pipes, 22.7% of whom smoked daily.
The findings are part of a more comprehensive survey on the cultural behavior of households in 2020-21, including their reading, sport activities, nutrition and social capital, was carried out among 62,560 households, of which 43,700 lived in urban areas and 18,860 lived in rural areas.
