A total of 20,020 public complaints were filed against goods and service providers with the industries, mining and trade organizations of Iranian provinces during the sixth month of the current Iranian year (Aug. 23-Sept. 22), registering a 3% increase compared with the similar period of last year, according to a deputy minister of industries, mining and trade. 
“A total of 17,031 complaints [around 85% of the total sum]) pertained to providers of goods. The lion’s share of these complaints were against sellers of bread, chicken, fruit and vegetable,” Abbas Tabesh was also quoted as saying by Mizan Online. 
The remaining 2,989 [15%], he added, were filed against service providers with auto repair shops and restaurants accounting for a majority of the complaints.
According to the official, who doubles as the head of Iran Consumer and Producer Protection Organization, profiteering, selling less for more money, charging more than officially announced prices and lack of price tags on products were the main source of complaints.
Complaints filed in the provinces of Tehran, Khorasan Razavi, East Azarbaijan and Alborz increased while they declined in Semnan, Kerman, South Khorasan and Kohgilouyeh-Boyerahmad.  
Around 7,885 businesses (39% of the total) were deemed violators, 11,961 (60%) not guilty and 174 (1%) are still under investigation.
A total of 240,042 public complaints were filed against goods and service providers across Iran’s 31 provinces in the last Iranian year (March 2020-21) showing a 7% decline compared with the year before. 
Iranian citizens can file complaints against businesses through the 124 hotline.
