A cyclone that crashed through Oman last week left two Iranian sailors dead and three unaccounted for and inflicted over 1,660 billion rials ($6 million) in losses on port infrastructure and equipment in the southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan.
According to Seyyed Parviz Mohebbi-Nozar, an official with Iran Fisheries Organization, search is underway for the missing sailors.
“Seven fishing ports and three breakwaters in Sistan-Baluchestan have been damaged by Cyclone Shaheen. Hormozgan Province has emerged mostly unscathed from Shaheen,” he was quoted as saying by IRNA.
Shaheen made landfall on Sunday with winds reaching up to 150 kph. The storm quickly lost power and was downgraded, but it caused flooding and damage mostly across Oman.
