The first round-trip flight between the city of Ramsar in the Caspian Mazandaran Province and the resort island of Kish in the south was operated by Kish Air from Ramsar International Airport on Sept. 14, according to the head of Ramsar International Airport.
“A Fokker 100 aircraft will take off from Kish International Airport on Tuesdays and Fridays at around 9:00 a.m. and then land at Ramsar International Airport at around 11:00 a.m. After a one-hour break, it will leave Ramsar airport for Kish,” Ershad Hatami was also quoted as saying by IRNA.
According to Hatami, Ramsar airport’s concrete runway was developed on May 25, 2020, at a cost of 1,100 billion rials ($4.04 million).
Now with the new runway, medium freight aircraft, including Airbus 320, can land and take off at the airport.
Kish Island, located 18 kilometers off the southern coast of Iran in the Persian Gulf, has been declared the fourth tourist destination in Southwest Asia by the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List.
Covering an area of over 90 kilometers, the island boasts a population of over 20,000. Its beautiful and unique nature was featured recently in the weekly webinar on Discover Iran, which was hosted by Iran’s Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, according to The Borneo Bulletin.
Kish Island is among the most beautiful coral island in the Persian Gulf.
