A total of 46.68 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines were imported to Iran from Feb. 3 to Sept. 10.
According to Mehrdad Jamal Orounaqi, the technical deputy of IRICA, about 43% of the total imported vaccines entered Iran in the sixth month of the current fiscal year (Aug. 23-Sept. 22).
Sinopharm vaccine had the highest share among imported vaccines with 37.53 million doses that were imported in 28 shipments.
Bharat vaccine (COVAXIN) had the lowest share with 125,000 doses (a single shipment), IRNA reported.
Orounaqi said a total of 4.6 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines arrived in Iran on 238 pallets weighing 73 tons on Sept. 3. The new imported vaccines are the Chinese-made Sinopharm.
“One hundred million doses of Covid-19 vaccines will have been imported to Iran by the end of 2021, as per contracts signed with international manufacturers,” said Nasser Riahi, chairman of Iranian Pharmaceutical Importers Association.
